There are so many questions in our mind whenever we appear
for an interview. What to do and what not to do, whom to listen and whom not
to, what to refer and what not to, it creates such a chemical locha in our mind
that we ended up pressurizing ourselves. Today we are going to clear few myths
which prevail in most of the people minds regarding personal interview.
Myth 1: Good looks
help you to get a job
Of course, you should be presentable and dressed
appropriately but thinking that only good looks will get you a job would not be
the right thing to do. Recruiters know
the cost involved in bad hiring. So be
rest assured concentrate on your domain knowledge and on your overall
personality.
Myth 2: Never Say
I Don’t Know
You want to impress the viewer It’s like twenty – twenty
tournament and you wants to hit boundaries on every ball. But even in T-20 tournament players have to
leave some balls to get settled on the pitch. So if you don’t know the answer
just say the three magical words i.e. I don’t know. When you will start
pretending then you will start descending in the eligible candidate list of
interviewer.
Myth3: More the
merrier
Interviews are mainly to build a rapport with a interviewer.
He may ask certain questions to you in which little detail is needed. You need
to be careful here. Don’t give the overtly detailed answer as it might distract
the interviewer. Don’t get into finer details of the things.
Myth 4: Take it
easy and just be you
It doesn’t mean that you go there with a track pant, ruff
hairs and showing your cool tattoo to the interviewer. It’s a formal engagement
so respect the environment. Interviewer may get frank with you but you must know
your limits.
Myth 5: Most
qualified person will get the Job
Well, sadly it’s not true. Less qualified but more outgoing
person gets a job. Make eye contact with the interviewer, compliment him on his
professional accomplishments and set the tone of the interview. If you are shy
or introvert then try it beforehand. Also, don’t give only one word answers.
Little bit explanation is needed.
These were some of the myths which might help you to crack
the interview. If it works and you get a job and don’t forget to say thank you
to us in our comments section.
